Agree with this line-up. Rode should bring back some bite and ball-winning to our midfield which was absent against HSV.

Edit: According to the Bayern Munich Facebook page, Robben did team training today and has a chance of featuring tomorrow! :)

A true David - Goliath contest. Paderborn's total year budget is 15 million, just think of the salary of a couple of our players. Andre Breitenreiter, their incredible coach has his office in the team's locker room and the club's offices are in a rented flat next to the training ground. The club does not have scouts, the sporting director himself travels around looking at former BL players that were not signed professionally.

2 interesting facts:

1) Breitenreiter played for Unterhaching in 1999 when they upset Bayer Leverkusen in the last match date to give Bayern the title (Ballack's Leverkusen only needed a draw to clinch their first title ever).
2) Hermann Hummels who once was Bayern's youth coordinator until Franz Beckenbauer fired him to appoint his own son (Stephan) played for Paderborn. Of course, Hermann is Mat's dad, that Bayern youth product that refused to come back to the club after being loaned to Dortmund.

This is the team that if they hold Bayern for 60 minutes they can get a grip of the game and pull a surprise but at the same time if Bayern scores early it can turn into a scrimmage.

I think this will be the line-up, though my guess is Lahm plays midfield which means Rafinha plays too. My instinct is that after the last game the trainer will go all out for victory, meaning Xabi, Alaba and Lahm in midfield (In Pep's opinion his strongest available midfield). This is great for Rafinha who has been out for sometime, but I would be disappointed not to see Rode. He impressed against Schalke but I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't fully adapted to Bayern yet. I hope the guy remains patient and works hard to improve whatever he needs to improve. After that all he needs to do is somehow impress more than he already impressed at Schalke haha.

Whether Robben plays is the only other question. If Robben comes in then Müller can get some decent rest. Hopefully Robben can score early and it won't be necessary for him to do ninety minutes. Götze and Lewa got some rest last weekend and if Robben plays I think both would find space to play their best.

Rode was not impressive against Schalke at all. Yes, he assisted. But after the first 30 minutes he's been a liability.
He's showing exactly what was expected from him, reckless fighting and a good spirit. But he's not really the player for our midfield yet.

He's looked good in pre-season anyways and might be ready to start against Paderborn.

I didn't think Rode looked that bad, but I may be looking at his performance through rose-tinted glasses. In any case, I think we could really use his fighting spirit, as you said... I personally think it would add something to our game that we were lacking last time... energy!!

Another thought... maybe Reina gets his first start here?

I agree with Bastos.. Rode did some good stuff against Schalke ( saw it live in the Veltins arena ) but after 30/40 minutes he was playing bad passes more frequently and stuff and in the 2nd he wasnt that present anymore in midfield.

There is nothing more interesting for a Bayern fan than a good old battle of the flanks, where we usually win. This is what Paderborn has to offer on Matchday 5 on Tuesday.

Polish media (Przeglad Sportowy) report that Lewandowski is having problem with adductor muscle and his presence is questionable in tonight's match against Paderborn.

players bought from BVB are all cursed... Sahin failed miserably at both RM & Lpool... Kagawa in Man Utd & both had to come back...
Gotze lost his form ...
Lewa... no comment...
