Image vs Image

Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
Kick off:

After a short break due to international matches, the Bundesliga will be back and FC Bayern are up against SC Freiburg on matchday 5, a team that has scored as many goals as FC Bayern in their first 4 matches (9 goals) but have conceded 9 goals to Bayern's 1 goal. Bayern have 5 wins in a row (in all competitions) but Freiburg are fresh from recording their first Bundesliga victory of the season, an impressive 3-0 win at home to VfL Wolfsburg.

We have a very tough September coming, but this is the one match we can expect to win no matter what. And it better be by a large score.

I wonder how the international break will affect the players...

It is going to be a weekend game so they should be rested for Freiburg. Besides, Alaba's current form should not make things hard for Germany. Robben of course is out but Ribery is one we should worry about. Rafinha and Gustavo are going nowhere so Tymo & DvB's absence in case of short injury should not be worrisome either. I don't know if Boateng is on the starting 11 since Mertesacker is back.

Yeah, imagine that this will probably mean they'll be in the starting lineup against Freiburg.

It is always annoying when an international break comes up during a winning run, but now is the time to show how professional they are and keep playing well after the break. Most of our players play for Germany anyway, so they'll still be together, and if they secure qualification for the EURO they might come back with an even higher morale. Alaba will probably play 90 minutes, which is good for us. Not sure who France are playing, but hopefully Ribery will score.

Not against Freiburg. Tymo, or hell, even Kroos could play that game. Gustavo is a precious asset that'll need to be saved for the difficult encounters.

Not playing with the NT and also not starting in our last game (iirc) means he's probably in better shape (physically) then Tymo, I think it makes sense to put him in now.

Rafinha wasn't even called up. He was one of the few players still training with the team so him starting is very likely, I think.

Agreed on both counts. Play Kroos for 60+ mins and then do a Poland again with Muller. As in go see if you can save the match somehow. Robben should keep on those Monster headphones on for this match and let Alaba try to recover his form. I hope he gets to touch the ball this time, with his feet preferably.
Gomez should save his energies for Wednesday. I don't think we can have him develop into another injured striker just yet. 45 mins should do the trick. Besides, I don't care what scoreline Villarreal gets this weekend, we are not playing in Munich for crying out loud.

One funny thing I just remembered. Didn't Roma faced us last year coming of from a 5-0 defeat the same as Villarreal? What I can't remember is if we played them after or before another Swiss team, Basel...

Resting players? I'm usually in favour of that, but seeing we haven't played in a while due to the international break, I'm not so eager on this. The game is on Wednesday so our lads would have some time to recover. I hope we don't underestimate Freiburg... they're a good team!

I don't think that Jupp will underestimate Freiburg and I would expect to see Rafinha, Boateng, Badstuber and Lahm at the back line and the same goes for the Villareal game.

I will be curious to see who Jupp goes with at RW if Robben does not start? Because Alaba brought very little going forward in the last match and prefers the left side, maybe Kroos at CAM and Muller out wide would be a better solution.
