Great performance against one of the weakest teams in the league. I've seen many Freiburg games this season and they are a really poor side.

Well, now bring Schweini in :D

Poor side? I thought they actually played rather good...their high line of defense and pressing game was quite annoying to deal with.

Playing Martinez as a CB doesn't look like a good idea to be honest. He just has so much more to offer as a midfielder, which kind of showed towards the end of the match. A midfield of Martinez-Schweini-Kroos still seems to break up play really well, so that's kinda nice.

I was very impressed by Kroos also. He just seems to be a lot more complete player than Thiago...great in possession, amazing vision and his defensive game was fine as well. Such an underrated player. I hope he starts against Arsenal, though judging be the fact he played the whole game we are more likely to go with Thiago.

Agreed. Specifically, that showed in the first 15 minutes when he was outplayed on 2 occasions by a very mediocre opposing player. He became a lot better when placed in the midfield, but that was just about when Freiburg stopped playing so not much can be read from that.

Use of space by FC Bayern allowed it to earn a comfortable victory against Freiburg, despite their superior running. Let’s take a closer look. More: Analysis: Bayern’s use of space fooled Freiburg

That was an interesting game on Saturday. I think that, in fairness, a 3-1 result would have been a more correct scoreline, but there is little doubt that Bayern deserved the three points.

The level of rotation exceeded my expectations, but I must acknowledge that Guardiola got it right: Bayern didn’t need any more big guns to win this one, and giving other players playing time was great for the rotation and players’ morale. I’m still curious about who Guardiola will actually start against Arsenal, but I am strongly inclined to think that Mandzukic will be in the starting xi.

It was good to see Shaqiri get a couple of goals, Kroos to play a comfortably controlled game and Pizarro to get a full 90 minutes and a beautiful goal. Then there was the humour of Dante racing the length of the pitch to celebrate his goal with Neuer.

I was also surprised, but happy enough, to see Guardiola playing something as close to a 4-2-3-1 as we’re likely to see from him.

As most are saying, we still need to see the real test, and Arsenal can provide some of that on Wednesday night. They’re at home, they are amongst the best in England and, perhaps most importantly, they can play possession football. Then we’ll begin to see whether Guardiola opts for 4-1-4-1, whether the defence is as solid as the Bundesliga stats suggest, whether Rafinha and Thiago can rise to the bigger occasions, and whether Bayern is indeed the superior European club.

I’m very hopeful…
