Those who are saying we are winning due to individual qualities..Barcelona re doing it for past 3 years and they seem to be fine..likewise for madrid..

I voted for Thiago as MOTM..1 goal 1 assist in a match which finished 3-0..that's the most telling contribution..

I concede that we still do not have the flare in all areas of the game that we enjoyed during Jupp's era, specially the last year but I can only tell that it will get better and better. Just the fact that players like Ribery, Alaba and Robben have their wings (and wings have double meaning here) back is a clear indication of the times that will come regardless of how far we go in Europe which seems to be the question since it looks like in the Bundesliga we are still ahead by a clear margin over the next rival. Dortmund looks sharper than in the last 2-3 years specially in attack but I am under the impression that they are not as solid on the back.
One last observation: Robben's stance in the game is surreal. About 6 years ago a friend told me: "this guy is incredible, he comes from the wing cutting inside and leaving behind each defender that challenges him and finds the way to shoot and score, everyone knows what he is going to do but he still does it, it has no explanation"

well, here he comes again, at 32 returning from injury, many years later, he jumps on the field and does it again.

Ribery and Robben were injured for like 90% of the time with Pep. And both did great job when given the chance to play, specially Arjen.

It seems to me that many people think that Pep was not using them or something. Both were starters whenever they were fit.

How easy is earning a +1 from Ramsej :P

Both Robben and Ribery were starters with Pep whenever they were fit. Nobody can argue with this because that's the truth. Robben was as good as he was in 2013 with Heynckes and Ribery kept the world class performances until his first injury at the beginning of 2014

I mean... Ribery was injured for like 1 year and Robben had injury after injury.

It's not like with Ancelotti we are finally using the wings or something. It's just that NOW both are finally healthy.

Actually we do much more and it's not because they are healthy, in Pep's system Alaba used to make space and not -so many overlaps- his direction was more internal than a wingback but now it's the opposite, Pep's main idea was to play mostly from the middle or overload a single flank with 3 to 4 players or long parallel/diagonal pass from the overload flank to the opposite flank so the winger can come to 1v1 situations with some space in front of him and cross the ball or finish it, that's why Costa thrived.

We didn't say that we didn't use the wings under Pep but it wasn't our priority let's say so... while we have a tremendous quartet of wingers and the best duo of fullbacks with great crosses. Now our midfielders are looking to pass the ball to the wings and our fullbacks doesn't cut in inside but overlap as wingbacks, I think it's better because you provide width on the pitch and you make wholes to the opposite defense than having your fullback coming from the back cutting into the box where are so many defenders he can hardly can have a shot into the goal. That's in theory of course but I prefer the Jupp's way & Carlo's now it seems much more effective IMO

I can't keep track of what each member in the forum says but I can certainly follow on what the coaches do and what the players say.
