Schweini needs a rest so as Mo commented before my ideal choice to replace him would be Kroos with Shaqiri playing CAM... problem is that Kroos also needs a rest

Hehe yeah he also does :D But I think he'll be more tempted to show that stupid hair of his rather than taking a rest :P

Regarding set-pieces, I've read twitter that JH said after that game that we practiced on set-pieces for 1.5 hours the day before for the ... you guessed it... FIRST TIME this season.

I don't know how true that is as I cannot get hold of the post-match comments made by Jupp other than those shown on the official website.

Jupp said at the press conference we practiced set pieces for 1,5 hours yesterday for the first time this season :O #fcbayern

The real question is not whether it's true that we practised set pieces for 1.5 hours, but why we weren't practising set pieces before in the first place.

This is just like the team not practising penalties before the game which shall not be mentioned. They are game deciders... you cannot not practise these things.

I hope they keep practicing though, not a one time deal. And btw the corner was an out swinger which makes it difficult for the keeper to intercept the ball.

Exactly. We need to prepare and practise for all eventualities. That's what sets you above the rest.

I just saw the goals, and they all looked good, especially the ones at set pieces.

I thought fixing his hair takes a fair bit of effort?

Thing is: You cannot really practise penalties. In practise, there's no pressure at all. But after a match, with "the whole world watching", the players exhausted... you cannot practise such things.
The english national team practised a lot of penatlies before a big tournament (I cannot remember which one), but they still lost in a penalty shoot out.

But you can practice technique!!
Chelsea practiced penalties before the Finale Dahoam
And result
Cech jumped to the right direction in all penalties he faced
And look at their penalties...luiz hammered the one in
Drogba was cool
Coles one was good

I don't think you have to teach players like Schweinsteiger, Kroos, etc. the technique to put a ball into the net. If you look at Schweinis penalty: It was just poorly shot. If the ball had went in, the penalty would've had to be retaken, because he stopped during his run-up. It was only a matter of poor nerves. You cannot practise that.

Schweini has taken penalties like that for years and has banged them in without any referee making him take it again.
The ideal team

I agree that there is a limit to how much you can improve penalty taking, although it would be very useful for players who rarely take penalties who will probably be forced to do so in a shootout. Certainly it would have increased the chances of Neuer saving more though.
