Yes, heat maps of his performances show him primarily roaming next to either Lahm or Schewini as a double pivot.

Still a very different formation from last season in terms of player roles. But yes, it has shifted closer to a 4-2-3-1, although Kroos still tends to be more advanced than Lahm.

The differences are becoming increasingly subtle, but it is nice to see someone able to differentiate between them.

It was a great game - one of the best Bayern first half performances against supposedly good opposition that I've seen for a long time. Guardiola made some comments before the game about his players working very hard all week. I wonder whether one of the problems they tackled was this first 20 min of most games being poor for Bayern, even their tactics do win in the end. It looked like it against Schalke and I hope we see a better first 20 min in the big games from now on.
