It's sad that both teams are missing key players (Schweinsteiger, Tymoshchuk, Subotic, Schmelzer, maybe Robben...) because this was going to be a must watch even for non BL fans.

It should be a great game however :)

very bad that it's coming after the international break

However there will be many emotions in it and the crowd in the stadium will be pumped up for revenge

Dortmund main difference than last year is their POOR DEFENDING , also Hummels for example is making huge amount of fatal mistakes , ofc they are not that strong in the midfield without Sahin and Klopp is still trying alot of players as CDMs

I think will beat them with a good scoreline also

If Muller and Kroos continue their national team form, the we will be Ok even with the absence of key players.... Kroos should play CDM though.... And we might even see the Robbery-Muller trio again :D

This thread is kind of dead given the fact that the game takes place today

Any formation-related news?

With plausible excuses for both sides ("missing our midfield in Schweini and Tymo", "missing our defense in Subotic and Schmelzer"), this isn't such a big game anymore, I guess.

Formation looks like it's going to be Alaba in CM and Kroos in CAM still.

I didn't search for it but goal.com reported in their preview that Heynckes said that Alaba will take Schweini's place. If that is the case the only uncertainty regarding Bayern is Rafinha vs DVB.

I'm still hoping that Kroos will play deeper and Alaba on the wing though [-o<

Kroos is already familiar with the CM role from both the NT and Bayern of last year ... I don't know why Jupp is insisting on playing him further forward when we are in desperate need for a top midfield anchor...

Reallyy?
IS there any news on this?

Has Heynckes or anyone else stated that we are going to use Alaba as CDM and Kroos as CAM?.... I thought after the recent NT match against Netherlands Heynckes might change his mind about this... It would be better for both of them... Kroos could be even better as CM, and Alaba is a better CAM player than he is at CM....

Time for overhaul!

Quoting goal.com:

"With Anatoliy Tymoshchuk suspended, Luiz Gustavo takes his place as Bayern's anchor. Some would expect Kroos to set up shop next to him as the Bavarians' second pivot after his glittering displays for Germany, but Jupp Heynckes publicly stated on Wednesday that young Toni would not be taking Bastian Schweinsteiger's place – so David Alaba starts in central midfield."

I don't know when and where Jupp said that, but from the above tone, it looks conclusive rather than speculative....

Goal.com's formation predictions are ALWAYS wrong. In fact, if they predict Alaba to start in CM, he'll probably start on the wing, or not at all. :P

Yeah i want Kroos at CM as well. Alaba is fantastic on the wing right now and if it was anybody other than Dortmund I would be ok with playing him at CM. Kroos is a better leader at CM than Alaba.

Alaba has soooo much potential that he can be world-class in a few years in whichever position he chooses but he needs guidance, for e.g. I am comfortable with Alaba CM if Tymo or Schweini are partnering with him, Gustavo as good as he is is not a leader on the field.

So yea ideally
