At this stage in the Bundesliga I prefer to see this as "Lewandowski rested ahead of the second leg vs Real" :)

Bayern Munich's new formation for Leverkusen: 4-2-3-1 with Kimmich as center forward and Muller as secondary striker. Come on, you all know that we deserve to see this tried at least once.

Fantastic performance! No need to comment further we made them look like a bunch of amateurs.

Highlights:
The dodge from Dembele at Lewy's free kick,embarrassing...
Carlo - Franck kiss.
Vidal's clean header tackle.
Robben humiliating in every ball Marcel "Captain" Schmelzer.
The infinite replays of the penalty from SkySport #-o

He is distributing the ball well and co-acquiring better the spaces, still suffers in the combat but has the support of Vidal. Come on Xabi, end your career with an achievement of UCL

A bit of a bold statement considering he's been really bad in most games under Ancelotti too but it's true that he's playing better recently

As I was watching the game intermittently, I just saw the highlights - Alonso without any beard looks 10 years younger... he looks like he's 90 now :P

I don't understand this. He has been one of our most consistent performers and always one of the better performers in the important games. By far his best-ever Bayern season.

For most of the season Alonso was an accident waiting to happen imo. Our defensive stability suffered when he was on the pitch. Manchu backed this impression up with statistics very well in the Real thread.

As I said at the moment he seems to be in much better form and his experience might prove useful vs Real, particularly since he's a former player. But imo he's still not as good as he was in his first few months here.

No he didn't, I can counter those lazy statistics in many different ways but I don't want to enter another discussion on how statistics are bullshit.

It's obviously easy taking statistics from the part of the season when we weren't really good and blame it all on one midfielder while totally ignoring that he also played in a lot of games during our best phase.
Might be a collective problem, hmm?

Someone providing statistics of how many goals Alonso has cost us in relation to all the other players might be interesting.

Congrats, Bayern winning this game was very predictable after seeing the line-ups. We can only stand up to Bayern when he have our strongest team on the field. Hoping for that in the Pokal, Bayern will still be favourites to win but at least we will be able to give you a real challenge. Dortmund without Weigl, Reus and Kagawa (in the form he's in, basically without a decent playmaker) becomes quite an average team.

What are your thoughts about Bürki's performance? I once told you that he wasn't good enough and you should have gotten someone better, like Leno or Horn. I still think so, Bürki is just not that great.

He could have done better on the first goal but the rest is not really his fault, he didn't see the ball on the freekick, Robben's strike was perfect and he was 1on1 with Lewandowski, he took a risk hoping Lewy will be shooting instead of dribbling.

He's definitely not a top class goalie but he's a decent one, yesterday it was more the defence not covering the spaces properly, you can't let Robben shoot from the left foot or leave Ribery unmarked in the penalty box.
