[2012-02-11] Bayern Munich vs 1. FC Kaiserslautern

Image vs Image

Competition: Fußball-Bundesliga
Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich
Kick off:

After drawing against Hamburg in their last outing, FC Bayern will be hungry to recover the two point discrepancy from the top of the Bundesliga table.

Ariel Borysiuk, the 20 year old defensive midfielder who plays for Kaiserslautern will be suspended for the match following his yellow-red during his debut match in Kaiserslautern's last match at home to FC Koeln. Dorge Kouemaha is out injured while Pierre de Wit is doubtful.

For FC Bayern, the confirmed absentees so far are Daniel van Buyten and Diego Contento, with the latter already having started light training.

Kaiserslautern always have a hard time playing in Munich, and Bayern have won their last 9 home games against Kaiserslautern. The last time that Bayern lost at home to Kaiserslautern was way back in 1997. For more statistics, click here.

Kaiserslautern have just lost 1-0 at home to Cologne. They were reduced to 10 men following the sending off of debutant Ariel Borysiuk (who will be suspended against us) from the 41st minute, but Koeln could only score the single goal in the 72nd minute, courtesy of Roshi.

I believe that we will win, and win convicingly.

Nothing less will be acceptable.

I'd give Olic a start playing as SS, off Gomez. Schweini as the sitting midfeilder.

----------------------Neuer-----------------------

Rafinha --- Boateng --- Badstuber --- Lahm

----------------Schweinsteiger------------------

Robben ------------Kroos ---------------Ribery

----------------------------Olic--------------------

---------------------Gomez-----------------------

They have been very poor this season and I watched them today and they sucked against Koeln (without Podolski). They also have very mediocre players like our Sandro Wagner, Nicolai Jörgensen or Shechter

If we don't get a comfortably win against Kaiserslautern then we deserve to play in 2.BL next season

Wow, that's quite a statement!

Let's not forget we have the German Cup QFs in mid-week away to Stuttgart, and Kaiserslautern have a whole week to prepare for this match. It won't be a walk in the park...

They are one of the worst BL teams with Freiburg and Augsburg. These is the kind of team that should be demolished in Allianz Arena. We won them easily in Fritz Walter Stadion this season

The games are going to start piling up, we're going to need to keep the squad rotating.

Maybe on Wednesday, we could see a few of the bench players getting a start. But against 'Lautern we need as Strong a team as possible to make sure we don't fall further back in the BL.

Someone on fb posted the formation we used when we beat Lyon 3-0 two years ago and suggested we try it again, updated. This was it:

---------------Butt-------------------
Lahm--DVB------Micho--Badstuber
---------MVB---Schweini------------
Robben-----------------------Muller
---------Olic------Gomez------------

and this is how it would look like:

---------------Neuer---------------------
Rafinha--Boateng--Badstuber--Lahm
----------Kroos-----Schweini----------
Robben-------------------------Ribery
---------Olic-----Gomez----------------

Kroos is probably the last guy in the world who could fit in as a like-for-like replacement for van Bommel.
The ideal team

I can't believe that you don't remember Altintop's world class performance in Lyon !! And Müller---Olic was our attacking duo from February till the end of the season. No Gomez

LOL. Actually Kroos is the exact opposite of Van Bommel almost in every aspect ...

Whoever wrote it made that mistake. I only copied it

I thought that it was strange that Gomez was starting...
