Kicker.de are saying that Alaba will replace Schweinsteiger for this match, as he did in the DFB-Pokal against Stuttgart.

Also, they are speculating that Robben will again start on the bench.

Basically, this would be the formation that they are predicting:

Temperatures in Munich are still very low, with the highest temperature predicted at -12C and lowest at -18C:

This could be an advantage because although Kaiserslautern is in the SW of Germany, they are still more to the north than Munich, and definitely further away from the Alps. They are not used to playing in such temperatures.

Looking now at the graph of the formation it seems like it's better distributed in attack if indeed Alaba is playing a little ahead of Gustavo and leaning towards the right. Kroos tends to drift to the left and so does Schweini, but this seems more balanced.

So Robben on the bench again ... let's hope that it'll be a turning point for him and he can be back to his old form

IF Robben sits tomorrow, that will be a second time he is deliberately left out and RIGHT after the announcement on a new winger transfer... And yet he still has to sign an extension.

Interesting.

I made that formation. They could be in line or whatever. It was just my assumption :)

I think JH has declared his intention to use the same lineup in tommorow's match... It's not a speculation then I guess...
And I'm not surprised... The Gustavo-Alaba combo performed well at Stuttgart.... also our attacking line worked well...

Heynkes said today: "There is really no reason for me to change anything in the holding midfield from the game against Stuttgart." He then went on to praise both Gustavo and Alaba.

Exactly. I still think that he deserves a lot more time to re-prove himself, but there can be much read into the timing of these "incidents", depending on if one wants to.

Honestly, I want Robben to start the game tomorrow. We need him to get back to his best ASAP if we are serious about challenging on 3 fronts, especially the CL. I cannot think of a better chance than tomorrow for him to regain his form. We are playing home against a very mediocre team so that is his best shot to excel. IMO it would be nonsense to consider starting Robben against Kaiserslautern a risk. Benching him would do more harm than good if you ask me.

Did u guys forget that Alaba replaced Schweini before the winter break and it was a really poor experience? Heynckes forgot about it quickly.

Yes, but he was also great in that role at Hoffenheim. His poor performances for us might've been the anomaly instead.

In any case a home game against Kaiserslautern is the best time to find out. Even if he has a poor game, surely, surely the rest of the team can pull his weight... right? :P

Agreed =D> I think the predicted formation might make us more flowing in attack, which is good, but we need someone like Robben in top form in CL matches. Even Barca have Messi...
