No way are you gonna get that many "Bavarians" to support Bayern.

Dude, being a fan doesn't work that way... You will not sell a single piece of merchandise more, trust me...
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

Well then I guess Germans don't have a strong sense of pride for their respective states. If there was only one basketball team in my home state California that could play in the NBA then I'd support them anyway for my state's sake. I'm a Lakers fan but if Sacramento was the only team from California in NBA then I'd suck it up and throw my weight behind em'!

I don't even think the idea of state pride is 100% true in the United States. True people will support different teams in the United States, and as a Southern Californian Lakers fan I prefer to support the Spurs nowadays. But I'll be damned if I support the Clippers (though I'll give you that plenty of people did decide suddenly that they were Clippers "fans"). And especially screw Golden State. Draymond Green being a horrible human being is only icing on the cake to the fact that they are a San Francisco/Northern California team. I will root for literally everyone the Warriors face.

And in Germany it's probably only worse because there's even more of a historical basis (and Europe in general has such a little village mentality). My experience in Erlangen and Nürnberg was that Franconians have a pride in being separate. Not to say there aren't Franconians who don't care that much and support Bayern while 1. FC Nürnberg is relegated.

^ to each his own I suppose. I dislike Golden state too but if they were the only team from California in the NBA I'd support them for the sake of California's pride. Also, you could be right about that "little village" mentality though

Perfectly said... Europe is a different world...
I can speak of italy for example... take the Tuscan region as an example, little Villages / Cities used to war against each other ... they hate one another to this very day.
Siena vs Livorno
Empoli vs Lucca
Firenze vs Pisa

It's sad then really, we are all humans at the end of the day and should not "hate" each other, especially for primitive and tribal reasons. We should look beyond the animosity and bloodshed of the past and learn to coexist. We are civilized intellectual animals and since we have developed so much in recent times, we as a species really need to move on from the archaic ways of the past.

Oh nonono! Don't get me wrong, Bavarians are proud as **** about their state! (Yes, Franconians are different )
But with all due respect, fan culture is something very different over here than in the US... For starters we don't have franchises, we have actual clubs - and you don't choose your club!
Plus, Germans tend to ne jealous and resentful, so yeah, they hate us just as mich as every non-Bavarian
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

i prefer to see more Bavarian clubs in the 1.Bundesliga... but in the end, it doesn't matter. The only club that matters is FCB...

Oh alright, I agree with you on that. However in the quote that you had replied to, I was referring to mental, intellectual and social development and growing out of the primitive tribalism mindset which apparently persists in Europe (also in many other parts of the World tbf)
