First one to the empty net, second one? I think he was aiming at the corner flag but the shot deflected and suprised Weidenfeller.

This is a funny game. :P

Next week's Schalke vs. Freiburg will be one hell of a games. That last CL spot is still up for grasps, especially with Frankfurt closely waiting for a draw.

Yes it should be a very interesting last day in the top 4 fight and at the bottom. Frankfurt do need to win by five goals though even if Freiburg V Schalke is a draw as Schalke have a five goal better goal difference.

For Bundesliga's sake, I hope it's Schalke who gets the 4th spot...
It's really a worrying situation....

Freiburg would be the laughing stock of the CL if they manage to qualify. Schalke, on the other hand, are always there in the later stages. I'm rooting for Schalke on this one, as weird as it may sound.

Monchengladbach were a complete disappointment this season! I want a veteran team like Schalke to take the 4th spot then there could be a chance the Bundesliga passes the EPL in coefficient ratings :D

Found this on a Man U forum, thought it was a great overview of the season :D
This matchday was, for the two top teams, the final rehearsal for the big one next saturday, both played their best teams. Both seemed to have trouble to focus on the actual match - but with very different effect.

Although conceding 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, Bayern immediately regained control and sort of cruised to another seemingly effortless win. Dortmund also lacked focus against mostly harmless Hoffenheimer, but lost control after a silly foul from Hummels who not only caused a penalty, but also managed to get injured in that action - swollen ankle, possible damage to the ligaments - he will be doubtful for the final. Weidenfellers challenge 5 min later earned himself a red one, and Hoffenheim another penalty, the win and the relegation spot.

Bayern looked confident, Dortmunds reaction in the last couple of minutes looked nervous. I wonder if behind the scenes all is roses at the Borsigplatz.

It has been an entertaining season. Team of the year: Who else but Bayern, who made it very clear from matchday one that, this time, they would show their cocky yellow-black rivals no weaknesses.

Player of the year would naturally come from the same team. It is really hard to pick one of them as no one played weak and many excelled - Dantes instant rise to guvernor of the defense, Alaba established himself in the exclusive club of europes best fullbacks, Martinez, Lahm his usual brilliant faultless self, Mandzukic benching 74 goals-in-114-matches man Gomez.. but they have been beaten by three men: Thomas Müller, the tireless exploiter of throwins and inventor of the position "Raumdeuter", by Schweinsteiger who came from being the face of the bottled finals and "Kapitänchen" to show that he is currently the completest midfielder in Europe, and most of all Franck Ribery - 10 goals and 15 assists only tell half the story. German football magazine "kicker" has a ranking with school marks from 1-6 (1 being best) and they ranked him "world class" in 7 out of 23 Bundesligamatches, with nine apperances in the "team of the day".

Outside Bayern, many goalkeepers stood out, Trapp for Frankfurt as well as HSVs Adler or Dortmunds Weidenfeller. Also top goalscorer Kießling, Lewandowski, Gündogan and Frankfurts Meier could be named.

Coach of the year: Who else but Heynckes. After last years traumas, he inspirated, motivated, micromanaged and orchestrated his far from easy group of egomaniacs, overgrown childs and bottlers with experience, composure, a strong hand and friendlyness. Neither the Sammer nor the Pep discussions made him miss a single stride. No lame duck here for miles.

Close to him: Freiburgs Streich who managed a team of nobodies to league spot 5. Augsburgs Weinzierl who avoided relegation for his 2nd-league-team against all odds.

Idiots of the year: Schalke who started extremely strong only to throw all away with a completely unneccessary untimely manager discussion in a way only Schalke seems to be able to do. Closely followed by the prennial underachievers HSV and Wolfsburg.

Surprise team of the year: Frankfurt.

Idiots of the year: Schalke who started extremely strong only to throw all away with a completely unnecessary untimely manager discussion in a way only Schalke seems to be able to do.

There was nothing untimely regarding this. Divas starting to threaten to either walk if the old coach stayed or renew if he got sacked and the club was stupid enough to follow suit. The whole thing backfired. Either way, same conclusion: Idiots of the year.

I have a soft spot for Hoffenheim I must admit. I hope they stay afloat even if it means keeping Weiser's men down under.

I would rather see Kaiserslautern come back up. Would be especially good since Weiser is in the team.

It would be nice if Kaiserlautern were in the BuLi and Weiser's loan extended so he actually gets playing time vs quality opponents like BvB and Schalke that he would get to play than if he was at Bayern...
