I am hating this match... For so many reasons...

But I'm loving Coman everyday more.

Boa is getting a deserved rest... Keep in mind we have a CL game this mid week and BvB soon after...

I'd have rested Alonso and Costa as well

Tbh I would have rested players next Tue with all due respect for D.Zagreb. ATM the objective should be to stay clear from BVB as much as possible. P.S Thiag needs to step up a bit...

Remember BATE ?! That's what you get for underestimating teams... They just beat Arsenal. The CL is not the place to rest players, unless you are already qualified in 1st place...

I agree and I am not usually the one who likes to make such statements...you are new here so you are not aware that I am seen as an ultra pessimistic. But I think BVB is more a difficult and imp match than the one vs D.Z. Plus it is a home match...

Oh God what a shitty boring game... Who is coming in to change it in the sec half? Goetze?

We'll take this one in the second half. Mainz, despite one good chance, has no clue what they're doing in attack, and their counterpressing is fierce but pointless. Their attacks have no purpose and in defense they're making schoolboy errors. If we weren't in cruise mode in the first half, we'd be up by a few. Müller needs to pick his game up fast - even before his missed penalty he had many errors thanks to faulty technique, though his inventive solutions (especially during set pieces) are still there. Lewandowski, perhaps even more damningly, is completely invisible. One other slight issue is using Thiago in the doppelsechs, which isn't working out. Frankly pushing Lahm into midfield would work really well right now if it enabled Thiago to pick the abll up higher and as a result make more of an impact with his dribbling skills.

But I feel like this game is already decided. A freak goal can shuffle the deck, yes, but I think that combining our superior stamina, Pep's ability to read the play and improve during it as well as Mainz' high-intensity pressing already forcing them into errors... just need the front two to kick it up a notch.
The ideal team

Ugh, Thomas... :x :x
I'm Sorry, but I'll never understand how a PROFESSIONAL can shoot OVER the goal...

That aside: I don't care for Rafinha on the left, even though he did better than I imagined... If you want to rest Boa, why not play three man defensive line? done it often enough when uncalled for... So much for Guardiola criticism...
Our game is still the same it has been for - seemingly - ages now: we have no **** punch in the last third, no panache, no surprise elements... And it's even worse in the first half - EVERY first half - what the **** is that all about?! Better get your shit together!!
Also, I think we'Re really missing GÖtze, and what he did against Wolfsburg - our center is really uncreative and slow...

Also, not that it's Guardiola's fault Thomas was aiming for the lights but he was on a roll - it's always better to NOT bench him, when he's on a roll... Cause he's losing his streak... That has happened before...
Shame... That would've made things much easier... We'Re somehow even lucky Muto didn't score... I have my doubts about taking away this one... Seriously... I doubt we will become much better in the second half but, well, there's always hope...

What an amazing game, another display of dazzling tactics! Did the forwards got the ball even once in the box? Excellent work in the midfield, just few missed passes but what a heck for 400 passes only 25 missed it's nothing. Sell Goetze, Coman is absolutely ......., and Thiago ......

According to Bundesliga.com, Mainz already have run 4 kilometres more than us, with more intensive runs too. I don't think any team has run this much in the first half against us this season, so I don't think they'll keep it up much longer.

Not really... he was completely closed down and had no hope of aiming his shot into the goal. It was his own error that he didn't pass to the player next to him free in space. Schoolboy errors and lack of co-ordination, like I said. Not luck.

Boateng in might be good, but Coman was arguably our best player in the 1st half... I'd take Thiago out instead
