I'm doing some developments and testing something new.

Could you guys please copy and paste whatever you see in this page? testtime.html
Also let me know if the estimated local date and time matches YOUR date and time when FC Bayern will kick off against Kaiserslautern.

Mine:
Kick off: Sat Aug 27 2011 13:30 GMT
Est. local time: Sat Aug 27 2011 15:30 GMT+2

and everything is in order :)

Am glad that it's only happening to me. Could be some extension I have then.

No idea what it could be then.

From the picture you posted, it looks exactly the way it looks to me if I zoom in to 120% though :wink:

New feature: localtime BBCode

Postby MUTU » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:04 pm

I have personally created a new BBCode called localtime. You will see it in the buttons above the box where you type in the text of your post (next to "youtube")

This will be really useful in match threads. It allows a date to be passed on (in CET, Germany time) and it will show you date and underneath it show every user the date and time in their country. So for example for someone who lives in England that is 1 hour after Germany, if you put the time as 15:30, it shows him the local time as 14:30.

You enter as follows:

[localtime=Preceding text]year,month,day,hour,minute[/localtime]

Here is an example of its use. You will see the result in the next post:

[localtime=Kick off]2011,08,27,15,30[/localtime]

This, as you can see is the date and time of our next Bundesliga match.
Also, note the preceding "0" for the month. Please, DO use this, because people without JS enabled (including the google bots) will see 2011-08-27 15:30 CET which looks better than 2011-8-27 15:30 CET

Great, hopefully nobody will be worrying about calculating timezones and differences in daylight saving time anymore when trying to see what time FC Bayern is playing :)

... as long as you have set up your computer's time zone correctly. Right? Someone told me once at his office half the Vista PCs were set up at Pacific Standard Time. Dude was from Brazil.

Yes, that is correct. It was a little secret and the "Est." is my way of having a disclaimer so that nobody can accuse me of making them miss a match :)
Whoever wants the "Est. local time" working correctly, you HAVE to ensure your PC's timezone and daylight saving time setting is set up correctly. Unfortunately, there is no 100% foolproof way of telling you the time in your zone, and this is about as best as it gets.

Whoever doesn't have a clue how to set this correctly, or would like to see if he/she has it set up correctly, here are 2 guides:

Re: New feature: localtime BBCode

Postby MUTU » Thu Oct 10, 2013 1:29 pm

Just wanted to ask, how many of you find the localtime BBCode useful? I'm in the same timezone as Germany, so really when it's used it shows the same thing for me. For the others, do you use it? Do you trust it? Do you understand how it works? Is it a Godsend or a gimmick? Does it help you figure out the time when there are Summer Time changes?

I think the word "local" may have been a poor choice of word from me as it's ambiguous. In the "Est. local time" it shows you the time in the timezone settings of your operating system.

Any kind of feedback is appreciated.
