*raises hand* I'ma go sit in the corner now.

In all seriousness, it's cool that he's doing well in England. I guess the "change-in-scenery" really does help some athletes.

Boy, did Bayern make a killing with the sell of Owen Hargreaves. He's out for about a month for tendonitis. He will not be able to play for the England NT and Man. United this month. I read some comments by Man. United fans saying that they bought a lemon. Laughing Someone said that he should've came with a warranty since he's always out. Laughing We tired to tell them he was injury proned but no one listened. Well, he's their problem now and not ours.

I will say in support to Owen that he's a good player but when he's healthy.

Edited to add that Owen has only played three games for Man. United since he joined the team.

So true. That's what I thought as well when I read the news this morning. Given his injury proneness, we've made an excellent deal!

Santa Cruz Sidelined With Injury

"Santa Cruz was injured in the match he played for Blackburn last weekend and it is very possible that he will need surgery," said a statement from the Paraguayan Football Association.

***************an excerpt from a Goal.com article***************

I was wondering how he managed to stay healthy so long...and this happens...Razz

Michael Ballack has confirmed his intention to see out the remainder of his career with Chelsea.

Although the Germany international has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, he has no plans to leave The Blues.

Ballack, who was linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, has two years left to run on his lucrative deal and would like to end his career in England.

"I feel very happy here and would like to end my career here," the 31-year-old told German television station ARD.

Ballack is currently unavailable with the ankle injury that has sidelined him since April, but would be interested in penning an extension once he is fit and healthy.

"Although I want to end my career at Chelsea, if I am still fit when my contract runs out, why should I not play on for another two years?" he added in Bild.

Two things to report...

1) Ballack is still weeks away from returning to Chelsea. Wow! I wonder what his injury really was. I know they said it was the ankle but it seems like there's more to it than just the ankle.

2) Sammy Lee is no longer the manager at Bolton. It is being reported that it was mutual consent. So, how will this affect Bolton during the UEFA Cup?

Owen Hargreaves who has made just three appearances since his arrival at Old Trafford, is hoping that the injections and a specialist insole will, set him on his way to an injury-free period.

The Canadian-born midfielder had a knee tendinitis as he joined the Red Devils and later picked a groin problem on England duty.

"I hope this is it for me injury-wise. I have missed enough games," Hargreaves told The Sun.

"I've been involved with football for quite a while and know injuries are part of the game but I've tried to take more precautions as I've got older."

Eurosport

* Aston Villa secure all three points with a solid victory against lacklustre Derby. Poor defending from the visitors leave Martin Laursen unmarked to tap in the opening goal ten minutes into the second half, and similarly sloppy marking allows Ashley Young to make it 2-0 five minutes later.

* An incredible period early in the first half sees Portsmouth score three goals in five minutes to set up a convincing 4-1 victory away to Newcastle.

I'm not a big fan of the EPL. IMO, it seems like the only teams that compete for the titles are Man. United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea. Of course, the notion of the same teams playing for the titles exists in every league. But overall, I'm just not into them at all.

David Beckham arrives in Australia to join his LA Galaxy team preparing for the friendly match against A-League side Sydney FC on Tuesday. "I'm very happy to be here. I've never been to this country before and it's somewhere I've wanted to visit for a long time," Beckham said.

The game in England is a bit faster, they depend on the player-intuition more than tactics Razz

Skysports gives 10 for Santa Cruz...I have never seen them give 10 for any player...
Why do all Bayern players seem to do very good once they leave us ( except for one, who was a star for us)? Any thoughts?
