Van der Vaart rejects Bayern

Postby charger256 on Wed May 23, 2007 3:59 pm

Hamburg playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has revealed that he is not interested in moving to Bayern Munich after he was once rejected by the Bavarian giants.

Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is desperate to fill the creative void left in his squad since Michael Ballack joined Chelsea and Van der Vaart’s name had been mentioned as a likely transfer target.

But the Dutch international has now stressed that he has no intention of moving to the Allianz-Arena over the summer.

Back in 2005, Van der Vaart was keen to leave Ajax and hold talks with Bayern, but a transfer failed to materialise.

“They didn’t want me back then and now I don’t want to join them,” the 24-year-old told Sportbild.

“I was told that I wasn’t good enough and this judgement had a lasting effect on me. It certainly wasn’t nice for me,” he explained.

Rather than joining Bayern Munich, Van der Vaart signed for league rivals Hamburg in a €5.1million (£3.5m) move and has proved himself as one of the best playmakers in the Bundesliga.

I don't care what he wants or not wants, I only know Bayern is not interested in him and that is the only thing that really counts

Hey Duncan, it almost seems like you have personal problems with VDV...did he steal your girlfriend?? :D (just joking man). but hey, never met someone so negative in a forum before, its all a "hoax, overrated, bullshit roumours, etc" and you're a little condescending too in some of your posts.

If I had a rap or hip hop background music I would sing to you something like:

"Bro, don't be no dutcher hater...
my pimp, I know you don't luv playmaker
chill out and play my electric baker
we'll beat next year those taters...."

lol @ walter.. but seriously, wtf is the bayern board smokin? we actually could have gotten van der vaart back in 2005 but instead told him to f**k off. already then we could have had the man to fill the gap after ballack, who was leaving for chel$ki the following summer. just shows how stupid hoenA$$ is in his transfer policy. complete and utter useless.

I don't know what they are smoking but I would probably need some of the same stuff to tolerate next season if we play as horrible as we did this year...
In Rummenigge's (for which I had my most utmost respect as player) and "fat" Hoeness' eyes Riquelme (where is he by the way?) and Ronaldo were also not good enough for Bayern. I think we could have got them this season. Look how good Ronaldo is playing in Milan. Even if he is only a shadow of the player he used to be he is still outstanding, and having a big name like him in Bundesliga would be great, and maybe help change players mind about not wanting to come play in Germany. Just look at the impact Beckham is having in US even before he got there..now even Sheva is considerinig a move there in the future...

i am starting to think we won't see any quality signings for bayern in the summer.. ever thought that the reason the club won't go out with the two "mystery" new signings is b/c they really are not that good? hoenass made a huge blooper by not building on the 2001 winning squad of the champions league, by not signing any "world class" players then, when we were a hell of a lot more attractive..

I have problems with constant overhyping of several players. So much to your joke, you really made my day with that.

And to the other stuff, if you'd take a careful look at all the names the press is linking with Bayern and then would take into account which players were linked with Bayern in the past and came out to be in deed hoaxes or simply bullshit rumors, then you could properly judge all the current rumors about their origin and validity without making many mistakes.

Cool! I'm glad you took the joke well, it was never meant to be offensive.
I know you are right about the rumours and all the press speculation, but a few turn out to result from the club showing a serious interest on a particular player, whether they make it official or not. Like Toni, at the beggining I also thought it was a joke "an Italian star coming to Bundesliga? give me a break"...very few Italians leave Italy in the first place, even if competitive offers are made from Spain or England.
Anyhow, as Torgan, I am becoming quite pessimistic about the new signings, so yes its a lot of rumours and bullshit, but we can only cross our fingers and hope to bring someone really good...

This thread is getting off-topic. It is also useless to keep on arguing. Neither Bayern, nor Van Der Vaart, nor Hamburg want to sign a deal. Our chances of signing him this summer are about as likely as signing Ronaldinho.
Soccer is not just about scoring goals - it’s about winning.
