Bayern Munich are chasing Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
The People says the German giants are looking for a new keeper as Oliver Kahn, 37, prepares to hang up his gloves.
Australian Schwarzer, 34, has been a Boro stalwart for years but a change of scenery and a glamour move would have its appeal - especially as he has German connections from his time with Dynamo Dresden and Kaiserslautern before his move to Bradford in November 1996. |

There was also the rumour that Bayern approched the goalkeeper of Hearth..
If I remember correctly, the Bayern board promised Rensing the number 1 spot after the retirement of Kahn.. imo, he's also one of the best upcoming keepers in germany |

| It's not a rubbish report. It's true that the club is after a goalkeeper. Dreher retires at the end of the season, and Kahn will follow a year later. We need replacements. What if Rensing doesn't perform well? (To note that his progress doesn't seem to be as meteoric nowadays as it was in the past, and in the last 2 games he played he was quite poor) What if Rensing is injured? Heck, what if both Rensing and Kraft get injured? It's happened with both Kahn and Rensing being injured last season, and Dreher had to play. |

I actually think the opposite is true...
He will not sign until and unless he is at the least number 2. ...
He is a good keeper IMO. |

| I've never seen him play, but if he's a regular in the Premier League, I would assume that he'd be better than Dreher. |

MIDDLESBROUGH is under pressure to extend goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer's contract or risk losing him to German giant Bayern Munich.
Although Schwarzer has 18 months left on his deal, speculation is growing that four-time European champion Bayern will launch a bid for the Socceroos shot-stopper in the off-season.
Having just ticked off his 10th anniversary with Boro, Schwarzer has become one of the English Premier League's most consistent goalkeepers, but an offer from Bayern may be too good for club and player to ignore.
"I sense he is still happy at Middlesbrough," Boro manager Gareth Southgate told the Northern Echo. "Of course, you never assume they are with you forever. I am sure there have been times when he has thought of moving on, but he hasn't and we are delighted. It is up to us to satisfy his ambitions.
"Ten years is a sign of his character. He's a loyal guy and has a very stable family, who are very important to him.
"He thinks seriously about his decisions, but would not have had any qualms about moving if he did not think the club was progressing, or wasn't improving."
Schwarzer was in goal as Boro beat Reading 2-1 at home yesterday after fellow Aussie Mark Viduka opened the scoring with a clever backheel in the seventh minute. |

Mark Schwarzer insists he is happy at Middlesbrough after speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions are believed to be in the market for a goalkeeper to replace veteran Oliver Kahn, with Hearts' Craig Gordon and Artur Boruc of Celtic also linked with the giants.
However, Schwarzer claims he is happy at the Riverside Stadium and is focussed on attempting to win silverware for 'Boro, with an FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United next week.
The 34 year-old told the Evening Gazette: "It's a very flattering link with Bayern Munich. It's always flattering to be linked with big clubs like that.
"But all I am concentrating on is playing well for Middlesbrough.
"We still have a big season ahead of us because there is a great deal we can achieve in two competitions. I also have a big summer ahead with Australia, so I have plenty of things to concentrate on at the moment."
Schwarzer revealed he hopes his fellow Aussie Mark Viduka will remain at 'Boro beyond the summer.
The striker is out of contract at the end of the season but has yet to pen a new deal.
"Dukes has a lot of quality and he is a very important player for the team", said Schwarzer..
"Obviously it's up to the powers that be but I'd love to think he was still here next season." |
