OUT
Salihamidzic - summer
Hargreaves - summer (probably)
Karimi - summer
Scholl - retires in summer
Deisler - retires now
Dos Santos - on loan til summer but i doubt he could become a regular

IN Schlaudraff only because it was a good deal.

With this situation we will have only Van Bommel, Ottl, Schweini and Demichelis, not counting Furstner.
I hope the board will come with something good this time especially after we lost Ballack and Ze last summer. After the news with Deisler they'll have to come up with something very fast to manage to bring someone and i mean someone really good, not a mediocre player, with a very tough deadline 31 january Sad

The problem with the team is that only Schweinsteiger and Dos Santos will be the pure attacking midfielders next season, unless we buy replacements. Hargreaves, Ottl, Demichelis, Van Bommel and Fuerstner are all naturally defensive midfielders, and Schlaudraff is more of a striker.

The situation is highly critical. The winter transfer window closes in 15 days' time!

However i think the board have made several steps towards new acquisitions. i don't think that they think that Bayern stands a chance in front of Real Madrid in CL and Bremen in Bundesliga with this midfield, and especially the team's morale mustn't be at a peak level.

Bayern Munich will not be panicked into buying on the transfer market following the decision by midfielder Sebastian Deisler to quit the game, general manager Uli Hoeness said Wednesday.

"There will be no rushed reaction," Hoeness said.

Squad planning will continue "calmly" until the summer "but sometimes the changes you are forced to make are not the worst ones," he said.

Deisler's decision Tuesday to end his playing career came the same day as Bosnian midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed he was leaving for Juventus at the end of the season.

Veteran midfielder Mehmet Scholl is also retiring at the end of the season while a question mark remains over the future at the club of England midfielder Owen Hargreaves who would like to move to Manchester United.

Bayern sold Germany captain Michael Ballack to Chelsea in the close season and have yet to find an adequate replacement.

"It is not the case that we are without worries. We have to start being careful with our squad," Hoeness admitted.

Bayern coach Felix Magath said he saw no need to act immediately to shore up the squad for the rest of the season.

"At the moment our squad is sufficient for our aims. I still have a few midfielders," he said.

However Bayern have made around 40 million euros (about 51 million dollars) available for new players as they seek to defend their Bundesliga title and face a tough Champions League challenge against Real Madrid.

Bayern are reported to be interested in signing the French attacking midfielder Franck Ribery from Olympique Marseille, and have also been linked with Chelsea's Dutch winger Arjen Robben.

Hoeness has so far refused to confirm the reports, saying merely at the side's recent training camp in Dubai the club was looking at one or two top players.

Club president Franz Beckenbauer meanwhile said the door remained open for Deisler to return to the club if he changed his mind about quitting football.

Beckenbauer, writing in his column for Bild newspaper Wednesday, said: "I haven't completely given up hope in Sebastian Deisler."

Bayern will retain the contract with the midfielder who is signed to the German champions until 2009.

"The door for Sebastian Deisler remains open," he said.

"Who can say that in half a year he won't be physically and mentally strong enough for a return?"

The 27-year-old German international had battled for years against a succession of serious knee injuries, and had also been admitted twice to a clinic to be treated for depression.

Beckenbauer said that like everyone else he had been surprised by the decision.

"It hurts, not only for Bayern but for everyone who loves football," he said.

"At the moment our squad is sufficient for our aims." - the aim is to remani in Bundesliga 1 ? Laughing
"I still have a few midfielders" - they'll start to think when only Schweini will remain or will use 4-2-4 Question

This news article at http://www.tagesspiegel.de/sport/archiv/26.01.2007/3043394.asp indicates that Bayern might be buying someone in a couple of days, but it's unclear whether that someone is for this transfer window or the next (summer).

After the Dortmund game i really hope that somebody in Bayern's board awakens and start to thinl about the rest of this season not only for the next one. There are a lot of medciocre players that have nothing to do at such a club as Bayern pretends to be. The defense in this game - simply no comment, the dortmund players had at least 3 seconds to think what to do with the ball and so on and so on.
Anyway, the midfield is the real problem. Nobody could create anything, just a bunch of players that do not know how to attack or to defend. I wonder if today was Madrid instead of Dortmund, what score would that be. Confused

If you're talking about BUYING players, well you can forget about it. Hoeness made it clear that he has no intention of signing ANYONE this January. Oh and about Madrid, I beleive Van Nistelrooy will enjoy that game.

I think I won´t even bother watching any more gmes this year...I had enough... They promised big things...but we got...crap...and someone really sees Van Bmmel as a replacement for ballack...ill only say this...ballack was 10 times better in bayern than Van bommel....he is a solid player but nothing great... and Karimi in first team? Laughing

Real will win...tho they dont get along ...but atleast they have players that can make something out of nothing.

Wow. Those are some pretty harsh words for a fan to say.

Cant blame him, our performance is way below that of Bayern standards.
I myself have given up all hope. Atleast for this season, it will need MAJOR changes to bring hope into the fans again.

I should put this in the song thread but I will put it here....I have a particular song that I just love listening to when things are down and out....Journey's Don't Stop Believin'. That's my motto for this team, espcially during these tough times.
