He had his chance. He never took it. Also regarding "ANY" player to bounce back from lengthy injuries, in the past couple of years I can mention Deisler and Scholl who won man of the match on their return from injury.

Since he joined us, Santa Cruz has scored 29 goals in 151 matches. That's less than 0.2 goals per game. As a comparison, Zickler had a bigger share of injuries than Santa Cruz, yet had a better goals per game ratio. I'd be bewildered if you find any striker throughout all of Bayern's history who spent more than one season with us and had an inferior goals per game ratio.

Are you sure its just 29??? Both Deisler and Scholl are world class players, you cant expect Roque to be just like them, when he was fit he did good, sure he had bad times, but who doesnt?? As for History maybe Carsten Jancker had less goals for Bayern, just a guess not actuall facts.

Well, the stats are just for Bundesliga matches, but it's not like he played any better in the German Cup or Champions League.

Jancker had 48 goals out of 143 matches. That's almost double the goals per game ratio of Santa Cruz.

I honestly doubt you'd find anyone worse, at least with ones who played for more than one season... cos Hashemian (who wasn't really given a chance) didn't score a single goal in the Bundesliga in his only season. But even Ali Daei had a much better goals per game ratio to Santa Cruz.

I never said he was TOP quality, I did say that he DID have his good times, I wouldnt compare him (on goalscoring terms) to Makaay and Pizarro or Podolski, but I remember that he put some good performances with Bayern especially in 00/01. Roque was just 1 talented player when he came to Bayern I remember that Bayern said that he was a promising youngster, he progressed sometime he even got a regular starting berth, but with the injuries and lack of form he couldnt keep up. Not much of a goalscorer though I have to admit, I wasnt expecting these stats to be so low almost 5 per season........Oh well maybe its good that he will move on, maybe its best for both Bayern and Roque, any news about a replacement for him yet??????

I'm positive that Bayern would benefit if he moves on, and probably so would he as well. No news about his replacement yet, but our #1 transfer target in attack now is Klose.

Well, if Frings leaves Bremen and Klose moves to Bayern, what are the chances of Bremen being more successful than Bayern next season? True, they'd be playing in the Champions League, but probably not for more than 6 matches...

Real Betis are being linked with a move for Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The want-away striker is seeking to leave Bayern and Betis are reported to be leading the chase for his signature.

Roque Santa Cruz On The Way To Real Betis

It appears that Bayern Munich forward Roque Santa Cruz is on his way to Spain's Primera Liga.

According to a report in Deutsches Sport-Fernsehen (DSF), the 25 year old Paraguayan has told them he will move to Real Betis at the end of the season.

The fact that he was leaving Bayern was no secret, but his destination was as yet unknown.

Santa Cruz has started 25 games for Bayern this season, but has only scored one goal.

He has also made 7 Champions’ League appearances, again with one goal.

The fee involved, and the length of his contract are not known yet.

Santa Cruz joined Bayern in 1999 from Olympia Asuncion for DM 10 million. In eight seasons at Bayern he has made 154 appearances scoring 30 goals.
