22.11.2006

The Bayern camp was not entirely satisfied following Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Spartak in Moscow: the German champions remained undefeated in their fifth Champions League fixture, but missed out on claiming first place in the group with a game to spare. Instead, top spot is likely to come down to the final Group B fixture at home to Internazionale of Milan.

Reaction to Spartak Moscow v Bayern

Felix Magath: "We've taken a point, but we've thrown two away. I was pleased it was a good match, but we've come away with too little for our efforts. We didn't make the most of our chances on the break. Claudio Pizarro was the best striker on the park, and not just for his goals. We weren't at a disadvantage on the artificial turf, the players were fine with the surface and happy to play on it."

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "We've not been beaten and we're still undefeated. The only thing you can call a negative is that we looked sloppy at the back at two set plays, and we've robbed ourselves of a victory we deserved. It would have been relatively simple to win today. Now we need a draw against Inter to win the group, and I'm convinced we can manage that."

Franz Beckenbauer: "It's a perfectly good result. We may have felt a little too comfortable at 2-1 up, and we ended up being pegged back. But basically it's been a pleasant away trip. We were forced to play on a surface we're not accustomed to, but we proved we were up to the task. We can be satisfied with the performance and the result."
