This means we are definitely going to sell him now, and it's bad for the club. 25-30 million euros might sound like a lot of money, but in reality the club would lose half the money to the government in taxes. Finding an equally skilled and experienced player for the 15 million euros that we'd get would not be easy. If it was, Manchester United would have signed him instead of Hargreaves...

Spot the difference

AUGUST 17, 2006: Owen Hargreaves, under contract to Bayern Munich, arrives at Old Trafford for face-to-face talks with Sir Alex Ferguson.

AUGUST 27,2006: Hargreaves, still under contract to Bayern Munich, tells the German press that Ferguson has offered him a "fantastic deal" and claims that Sir Alex first contacted him while he was on holiday after the World Cup.

APRIL 13, 2007: Ferguson blasts Real Madrid for tapping up Ronaldo. "They don't have any regard for anyone but themselves when they decide to put their neck out for the best players in the world," he says. "There's no point reporting them to Uefa. If you fined them, they would wipe their backsides with it."

Gotta remember that Sir Alex is "special." He thinks he's above anyone and everyone else and that everyone else needs to bow down and kiss his hairy behind. LOL!!! He is the reason why I despise Man. United. I wish someone would slap him.

Though United are chasing a second Treble this season, Ferguson already has designs on the 2007/08 campaign.

Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves remains a long-term target for the Premiership leaders, while Southampton full-back Gareth Bale has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Outlining his summer transfer plans, Ferguson admits he is likely to follow last year's policy when Michael Carrick and Tomasz Kuszczak were brought to the club.

"I would hope to add a couple of players in the summer who will improve us," Ferguson told The Scotsman.

"We are talking about that now. There won't be sweeping changes, maybe just one or two coming in who would have the talent to make a difference."

Meanwhile, Ferguson also revealed that the Glazers have not interfered with his management since the family bought United.

The Glazers took over The Red Devils in 2005 and Ferguson insists he has received nothing but support from the club's owners.

He added: "The Glazers have been fine since they took over. They haven't interfered with anything we do.

"I have had a couple of meetings with them, although David Gill obviously deals with them more regularly.

"Any time I have been with them, they have simply said to let them know if there is anything I need."

Owen Hargreaves will cost ManYoo £18m.

After months and months of stalemate over the midfielder, Bayern Munich have finally buckled and, says The Sun, 'accepted defeat in their bid to keep the England star'.

Talks between the two clubs are believed to have taken place during the past week and Hargreaves' move to the Premiership appears only a matter of time.

If we sell him for 18 million sterling, we'll probably get no more than 10 million sterling, with the rest going to taxes for the German government. There aren't many real quality players you can buy for 10 million sterling, unless they're old.

Hargreaves set to seal United move

Bayern Munich officials have finally accepted a bid in the region of £15-16M from Manchester United for midfielder Owen Hargreaves.

Hargreaves made no secret of his desire to move to Old Trafford and Bayern have been compelled to let him leave for a price £5M lower than their evaluation.

Hargreaves’s representatives are set to meet United officials for contract talks next week.

Manchester United are ditching plans to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves.

The Sun says Sir Alex Ferguson thought he had agreed an £18million deal for the England midfielder.

But Bayern have told the United boss their asking price is now above £20m.

Even though Ferguson will have a £40m summer transfer kitty, he will not be held to ransom by any club. He is ready to turn his attention elsewhere, having already identified other targets.

This is from tribalfootball.com, right? Take it with a pinch of salt :)
I think it makes sense to increase the price. Hargreaves is the missing link in the Man United side... he would change this slightly flawed side into a world class team that could dominate Europe for a while.

It does make sense for Bayern to increase the asking price for Owen because Man. United showed that they really need a guy like him. If they want him bad enough, they'll pay the hefty price tag.

I have a feeling that Manchester United will make a bid for Milan's Gattuso. Gattuso has always said that he would like to play in England before he retires. Well, he's 29 years old now... and Manchester United are crying for a guy like him.
