Post subject: Bayern to splash the cash Reply with quote

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed his club are ready to splash out up to 30 million euros to bring in a world class player next summer.

The Bavarians have won consecutive league and cup doubles under coach Felix Magath, though they have made a sluggish start to the current season.

They currently lie fourth in the Bundesliga, four points behind leaders Stuttgart, and Rummenigge admitted the competition was getting tougher.

"Winning the championship has become more difficult in the last few years," he told Bild. "VfB [Stuttgart], Bremen and Schalke are catching us. Schalke are in upheaval, but they're still playing well, which makes them even more dangerous."

However, no club in Germany is able to compete with Bayern on a financial level, and a big money buy would help them maintain their superiority, as well as challenge on a European level.

"Players that can improve our team aren't available in January. But we are ready to sign a superstar. The board has been informed."

Questioned on whether they would be willing to pay out a transfer fee of 30 million euros, Rummenigge replied:

"In that area, including salary, if somebody is on the market. On a sporting level he has to be top class, a strong personality. We're talking about new territory, in terms of German clubs buying players."

Rummennige also insisted that striker Lukas Podolski, signed from Cologne last year for a fee of 12 million euros, would have to adjust his game to suit the team's style of play.

"We will have patience with him, so that he will become a top class player. The counter-attack is still his strongest weapon - though he can't use that so much with us. He needs to adapt to Bayern's style. Not the other way round," he stated.

I'll believe it when I see it (concerning the spending of money).

As for Podolski, I think he can adjust to their style.

Surprised there's Kerlon for one thing. And Ribery may move in January as well...

We have finally seen the light! Here’s hoping we’ll land Ribery.

Who said ribery is worth 30m and who said that we are going to sign him for 30m.Only superstars can fit in that amount. But it's wise to sign two star players for 15-15m rather than sigining the "superstar"

I think Ribery costs less than that, and there's a chance that some other team will snap him up in January, anyway...
