| Post subject: Holders handed tough trip to Aachen |

29.10.2006
Former Bayern star Hansi Flick, chosen to make the draw for the DFB German Cup Round of 16, has handed his former club a tricky but negotiable task with a trip to promoted Alemannia Aachen. The Germany assistant coach made the draw live on Sunday evening prime-time TV.
The Bavarians would doubtless rather have avoided Bundesliga newcomers Aachen and the seething cauldron of the Tivoli stadium on the Dutch-German border at this stage, as the Cup holders must travel for the final match of the calendar year to a ground where they have less than happy memories.
Last Cup defeat came in Aachen
In what is Bayern's most recent defeat in the domestic knockout competition, the Munich side coached by Ottmar Hitzfeld fell 2-1 in the 2003-4 quarter-finals against then second-division Alemannia, who went on to a creditable defeat against Bremen in the final.
The Round of 16 ties are scheduled to be played on 19 and 20 December.
DFB German Cup Round of 16:
VfL Osnabrück - Hertha BSC Berlin
Kickers Offenbach - Wacker Burghausen
Greuther Fürth - VfL Wolfsburg
VfL Bochum - VfB Stuttgart
Hanover 96 - MSV Duisburg
Alemannia Aachen - Bayern Munich
Eintracht Frankfurt - 1. FC Cologne
1. FC Nuremberg - Unterhaching
