Bayern move on from Bremen reverse

The Bayern stars came together as a group on Monday afternoon, both physically and metaphorically, as coach Felix Magath addressed his troops following a brief warm-up ahead of daily training. Two days after watching his men fall 3-1 in Bremen, "I had a couple of things to say," the coach later revealed. "I pointed out the things we did extremely badly in the first half-hour, and the fact we were unable to resist Werder. And for now, that was that on the subject."

The idea is for the club to move on from Saturday's painful defeat. "We need to put it out of our minds and get on with it," Magath confirmed. The Reds are helped by the proximity of Wednesday's DFB German Cup encounter with Kaiserslautern, which will now demand their full and undivided attention.

Magath issues warning

"It'll be a difficult and thankless task," the boss warned ahead of the showdown against the side lying third in the second division. Lautern tasted the Allianz Arena atmosphere at the weekend in defeating TSV 1860 Munich 1-0. "We mustn't underestimate them," the 53-year-old urged.

There was good news on the team selection front as Oliver Kahn, unable to train the precious day with a stomach upset, returned on Monday and will be fit to face the Red Devils. Willy Sagnol, plagued by a minor knee injury for more than a week, also came through the session without any further reaction.

Lucio in plaster

However, at least one change will be enforced, with Martin Demichelis a certainty to stand in for injured Lucio at centre-half. The revised back four duly took up station for a defence versus attack routine on Monday.

Lucio underwent an MRI scan on Monday, confirming the diagnosis of sprained ligaments in the left ankle initially pronounced by club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt. The Brazilian will be in plaster for the next 10 days and faces a total of three weeks on the sidelines.
