22.10.2006

Bayern will be without Brazil centre-half Lucio for around three weeks after the dependable defender fell awkwardly and damaged ligaments in his left ankle in Saturday's away defeat to Bremen. Lucio appeared at the Säbener Strasse professional quarters on crutches this Sunday morning, before reporting to club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt for treatment.

The player will undergo an MRI scan on Monday as a precaution to rule out the possibility of more serious damage. "This Injury is bad news for the team," Mark van Bommel reflected.

Temporary setback for Kahn

Oliver Kahn also sat out the training session on Sunday after reporting sick with a stomach bug. "He wasn't completely well before yesterday's match," coach Felix Magath reported.

However, Kahn is not considered a doubt for the DFB German Cup last sixteen clash with Kaiserslautern on Wednesday. "I'm expecting him to resume training tomorrow," the head coach announced.
