It doesn't change the fact that both (Jansen and Lell) have weak defense.

Yes, their defensive skills are not really good. See the Getafe and Zenit games. Even Klinsmann has statated Jansen should improve defensively.

I agree, Jansen is not very good defensively, not just based on his Euro performances but also on some Bayern games in which he showed real weakness.
On the other hand Sagnol has been playing really well, and I think it should be him and Lahm in the starting lineup next season...I always liked Lahm on the left better anyways although it takes him a little longer to make a cross since he generally has to stop and switch to his right foot, but he can make more incisive runs in to the box playing on the left.

I didn't see him as playing very well. The one really good think he did was that low cross to Henry whom he scored against the Netherlands. Except for that he did nothing special.

Bayern Hijack Oddo's Move To Lyon?

Milan right-back Massimo Oddo seemed to be on the proverbial aeroplane to Lyon yesterday, but it now appears Bayern Munich are in the running to sign the Italian.

Oddo looked set to be on his way to join compatriot Fabio Grosso in the French league at Olympique Lyon, but now he could be joining Luca Toni in Germany instead.

Milan president Adriano Galliani recently announced that the club is looking to trim down their squad after the arrivals of Andriy Shevchenko and Philippe Senderos, and that Oddo could be one of the players leaving.

According to tuttomercatoweb.com, Bayern Munich were interested in the player at the beginning of the summer and proposed a swap deal that would involve French international Willy Sagnol moving to Milan. Now it seems that Bayern are acting on their interest in Oddo once again before the transfer window closes. It appears the Bavarians are not finished reinforcing their side as they return make their return to the Champions League this season.

Certainly this news will put Oddo's move to Lyon in jeopardy, as the ex-Lazio player considers all his possible options.

Oddo's performances for Milan last season ware considered relatively poor by the Milan tifosi and the media. In fact, Oddo lost his spot on the national team and was not chosen in Roberto Donadoni's squad for Euro 2008. The former Verona player was also part of the Milan team that won the Champions League in 2007.

Reports: Oddo Signs For Lyon
According to reports in France and Italy, Massimo Oddo has signed for French champions Lyon, and Milan will officially announce the transfer in the next few hours.

Right full-back Oddo has been heavily linked with an exit from Milan in the past week or so as he is currently well down the Rossonero pecking order, behind both Daniele Bonera and new signing Gianluca Zambrotta.

L’Equipe is just one of a host of publications, both in France and Italy, to claim that a deal has been struck which will see Oddo join Lyon on a one-year loan, with the option of making the move permanent next summer.

The 32-year-old, who will be a replacement for the injured Francois Clerc, will undergo a medical at the Stade Gerland any time now, while Milan are expected to officially announce the transfer within the next few hours.

Oddo had a miserable 2007/08 season with the Rossoneri. He was dreadfully poor in the first half of the campaign, before he had an upturn in fortunes at the beginning of 2008.

Things then went downhill again due to injury, and he barely played in the final six weeks of the season, thus missing out on a place in Italy’s Euro 2008 squad.

If confirmed, Oddo would be reunited with his World Cup 2006 team-mate Fabio Grosso, who plays on the opposite side of the defence for the seven-time consecutive French champions.

Thank God for this... we don't need another RB. What we need is a LB.

Munich - German champions Bayern Munich are set to sign Italy defender Massimo Oddo from AC Milan, the club reported Thursday. Right-back Oddo will join Bayern on loan for one year from Milan subject to a medical examination, Bayern said on its website.

Oddo, 32, joins fellow Italian Luca Toni at the German side.

The deal comes a day after Bayern sold left-back Marcell Jansen to SV Hamburg for a reported 8 million euros (11.8 million dollars).

Oddo has played 31 times for Italy and was a member of the 2006 World Cup-winning squad but was not named in Italy's squad for Euro 2008.

I just don't understand this. We have 5 players who can play in the fullback position, and all 5 of them are right-footed. And we let the only left footed one leave... *sigh*

The interesting thing is that we got him on loan, and next season Goerlitz will be back from loan.

Bayern secure Oddo loan

Bayern Munich have sensationally swooped to secure a loan deal for Milan defender Massimo Oddo.

The Azzurri stopper spent much of last season sidelined with a knee problem and his position with the Rossoneri was compromised by the arrivals of Gianluca Zambrotta and Philippe Senderos this summer.

French giants Lyon had been lining up a move for the last week but Bayern stepped in at the 11th hour to hand Oddo the chance to play alongside Italy teammate Luca Toni.

Die Roten had been looking for a replacement for Marcell Jansen, who has just completed a move to Hamburg.

“Oddo will arrive on loan for a year and will sign immediately after he passes his medical at Saebener Strasse,” a statement from the German side confirms.

“He is the kind of player who has characteristics that allow him to provide cover and he is quality going forward,” Bayern boss Jurgen Klinsmann enthused, “He is a great addition to the squad.”
