New striker or not?

Postby fcb 4eva on Sun Apr 27, 2008 9:56 pm

looking at recent weeks (Zenit game to be particular) if we havn't got Toni in we never look like scoring, so do you think we need to be signing a high quality striker to play alongside Luca or not?

I'd personally like to see Kuyt with him.

i say no, klose looks like he's getting old but we got podolski and he's just been so unlucky this year he has so many clear cut chances that he makes 9 out of 10 time and he'll miss the goal by mili-meters. but, i say stick with wat we got. maybe medin69 said Benzema or huntelaar i would love to see that! but, i'm not sure Munchen are willing to splash out the money.

I really feel like we'll be fine next season w/ Klose and Poldi. Klose is proven quality despite his recent troubles, and as previously mentioned all Poldi is missing right now is luck, which fortunately Luca is not. (We should call him Lucka! Sorry, that was corny.) Another striker is necessary, but I feel like it should be a "hot prospect" of sorts, not a guaranteed starter but someone young enough to come off the bench and work their ass off. I'm thinking of someone like Paulo Guerrero. Only hopefully the board will handle this striker in question better if they start to show promise, again like they should've with Paulo.

Bayern should have retained Jan in the first place. Should Bayern decide to get another striker, I say go for Arouna Kone!!!! I watched him in the African Cup of Nations of 2002 (I know it is a long time) and he was simply amazing. He's got strength and power, acceleration and great technique. If you look closely, he resembles a lot in my opinion to Vieria like they are related to each other!! :)

Let's go for Mario Gomes...can you imagine Toni and Gomes upfront? (although they might be too similar players) who would stop that?. I think Gomes has the potential to be as good as Toni or even better, he has pretty much the same qualities, but a little less finishing precision and positioning, but better pace and dribbling...

Klose is actually doing his job opening spaces for Toni, yes he might not be scoring but I think he does a lot of work that goes unnoticed...

I meant the African Nations Cup of 2004 not 2002.

Gomez and Toni would be overwhelming! It would be great, but, back to reality i dnt think it could be so. :(

I think Gomez and Toni have similar styles which might make it a bit difficult for them to work together. Klose is in a patch of bad form, but he'll be back. We need a young, promising striker as backup, because 3 strikers won't be enough and I don't think any of our youth/reserve players are ready to step up just yet.

Yes, Bayern must have another striker. Toni, Klose and Poldi is simply not enough. I don't want to imagine what will happen once Toni is injured... :x
