| More proof of why Ribery is the illest thing since sliced bread. Though we all know how much French people change their minds, wasn't it around this time last season that Henry said he was Arsenal for life? Not to mention Willy Sagnol...but hopefully as long as Franck keeps being awesome he'll feel comfortable in Munchen and stay...he's future captain material for sure, IMO. |

| Post subject: Chelsea Looking To Snare Ribéry |
|
|
A report in this morning's Daily Mail claims that Chelsea are looking to step up their €30m interest in Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribéry.
Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen and scout Rainer Bonhof were in Berlin at the weekend to watch Bayern's 2-1 extra time triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final, sparking rumours of continued interest in the Münchner's Frenchman.
Ribéry delivered another star performance in the game and is thought to be high on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's hitlist and he seeks to add more flair to the Blues' line-up.
Bayern Not Selling
These reports will be greeted with laughs in Munich, however, where they are more than confident that Ribéry will stay put this summer and for the years to come.
The former Marseille man stated last month that he'd already arrived at a "superclub" and with incoming boss Jürgen Klinsmann keen to build a squad capable of winning next year's Champions League he'll be unwilling to part with Bayern's crown jewell.
Take The Trophy And Run
For his part, Ribéry caused a few chuckles after Saturday's cup win: As the trophy was being passed around the podium and eventually reached him, the Frenchman ran off with it, heading straight to the Bayern fans. "We'll have to be careful," joked sporting director Uli Hoeness of outside interest in the player. "But ultimately both Franck and the cup will be coming home with us." |

Never mind laughing in Munich, I'm killing myself here in Glasgow!! surely Franck will not make the same mistakes that Ballack and Pizarro made in pursuit of gold!
They have hardly set the premiership alight and proves yet again that you cannot buy titles - they have to be earned by performance on the pitch, be it blood sweat and tears.
The only time I want to see Franck at Stamford Bridge is in next seasons Champions League Semi Final when he sets up goals for us. |

| It's always the same old thing: the English press is stuck in their ivory tower coming up with these stories, completely oblivious to the fact that they're not the be all end all of football. These papers would be better used for toilet paper than reading. Franck goes nowhere, especially not this summer with no profit for Bayern. |

The press in England can't handle the fact that someone who was linked with the premiership (Arsenal) choose to go somewhere else, they do think the Premiership is the place to be and cant face it when someone doesnt want to go there.

ROFL!
The interviewer asks Toni how he's doing in German and Toni calls over Ribery and asks him "what is that?" Ribery says "this? a... water!" and splashes Toni |

| Ribery will not go to chelsea in the summer. He will play in munchen for the next couple of years. I think after his contract is up he will move on. If bayern were smart we would make a big contract like casillas of real madrid until 2014. That will keep him for life. Fantastic player, world class. |

Chelsea eye Franck Ribery not Lionel Messi
Chelsea have started making transfer plans for the summer with a back-up goalkeeper, right-back, left-winger and centre-forward heading the shopping list. Lionel Messi is not on the list as Chelsea do not believe he would leave Barcelona, but they are interested in Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery.
Carlo Cudicini is expected to depart, leaving Chelsea in the market for an understudy to Petr Cech in goal. Right-back has long been a problem position. Juliano Belletti is considered good going forward, but liable to be caught out defensively. Sergio Ramos, who has been excelling for Real Madrid at centre-half, is considered a potential option at right-back, as are Sevilla's Daniel Alves and Inter Milan's Maicon Douglas. Paulo Ferreira will remain as reserve right-back.
A consistently threatening left-wing presence is required, as uncertainty surrounds Florent Malouda's future, while Salomon Kalou is still young. Ribery, the livewire Frenchman who tore England apart in Paris on March 26, has been tipped as a potential option.
The pursuit of a striker will depend on Didier Drogba's mood. If the Ivory Coast striker decides to leave, possibly rejoining Jose Mourinho at whichever club the Portuguese returns to management with, then Chelsea will need a top-class replacement. Valencia's Spanish international, David Villa, is a possibility, and Chelsea coach Avram Grant is believed to have been impressed with Stuttgart's Mario Gomez.
One player who had been expected to leave, Frank Lampard, may now stay. Lampard had been linked with a move, possibly to Barcelona, but could now sign an extended contract to see out his career at the Bridge. Grant's caring stance towards Lampard after the death of the player's mother, and the support of fans, are understood to have influenced the England midfielder's thinking. Chelsea are also reported to be considering extending the contract of Michael Ballack, who has been in prolific form.
If four new faces arrive this summer, eight are expected to leave as Grant's squad is trimmed. A summer clear-out of fringe players is inevitable. As well as Cudicini and Belletti, Shaun Wright-Phillips may also be sold, having failed to impress consistently when given the chance.

Steve Sidwell, who was signed from Reading in the department where Chelsea are strongest, central midfield, has rarely featured and is now being linked with a move to Everton.
Premier League transfer talk
Claudio Pizarro has done little since joining from Bayern Munich and could also leave. Tal Ben Haim is another who may be deemed surplus to requirements as Chelsea are not short of centre-halves, particularly with Branislav Ivanovic having arrived mid-season. Ramos, if he joins, can operate comfortably at centre-back and full-back.
Malouda had appeared unsettled but has played well recently, scoring in Monday's 2-0 win at Newcastle United. Andrei Shevchenko's future will also be debated.
Franck Ribery £28m
• Born April 7 1983, Boulogne-sur-Mer.
• Versatile midfielder was a target for Arsenal after helping France reach 2006 World Cup final.
• Moved instead to Bayern Munich where he provides invaluable support for the strikers, as well as scoring his fair share of goals.
Sergio Ramos £25m
• Born March 30 1986, Seville.
• Came through Sevilla youth system before signing for Real Madrid in 2005.
• Has established himself as one of the world's top defenders, and can play at the centre or on the right-hand side of defence.
Mario Gomez £27m
• Born July 10 1985, Riedlingen.
• Takes his name from Spanish father but has a German mother.
•A Germany international, he established himself in the Stuttgart attack in the 2005-06 season. He was named German footballer of the year in 2007. |

Chelsea, you can take Gomez if you want to but Ribery goes nowhere. |
