Russian top flight runners-up Spartak Moscow will travel to face Bayern in Tuesday's Champions League opening group fixture on the back of a morale-boosting 2-2 derby draw with city rivals CSKA.
In Saturday's highlight fixture on matchday 19 of the Russian league programme, Munich's first European opponents of term battled to an away point with the reigning domestic champions and current leaders.
Spartak's bitter local rivals took a 27th minute lead through Dudu, but Iranek levelled on 39 minutes to make the score 1-1 at the break.
Roman to the rescue
CSKA restored their advantage through former Hertha Berlin ace Ivica Olic on the hour mark, but Roman Pavlyuchenko (pictured right) struck to earn his side a draw with five minutes remaining. The result leaves Spartak in second spot on 35 points, just three off leaders CSKA.
The Moscow cracks are due in Munich on Sunday lunchtime, an unusually early arrival as they seek to acclimatise ahead of Tuesday's Champions League showdown. Spartak are scheduled to train at the Allianz Arena on Monday evening, before contesting the first group stage points of the campaign the following day.
