Kroos guides Germany U-17 to world bronze

Bayern starlet Toni Kroos contributed a goal and an assist as Germany claimed third spot at the U-17 World Cup in Korea on Sunday morning. The Germans defeated Ghana 2-1 in Seoul to seal their best finish at this age level since 1985. Dead ball specialist Kroos took his total for the tournament to five with a magnificent 17th minute free-kick, handing his side a half-time lead. The Africans’ Osei levelled on 67 minutes, before substitute Alexander Esswein pounced on a sublime lay-off from team captain Kroos to net a stoppage-time winner. Kroos played alongside fellow Bayern youth Mario Erb, but club colleagues Mehmet Ekici and Matthias Haas failed to get off the bench.
