Postby FC Bajern on Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:03 pm

The draw for the second round of this season’s DFB German Cup, has handed Ottmar Hitzfeld and his men a home tie against long-term rivals Borussia Mönchenglabach, relegated from the Bundesliga last season.

The second round ties will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday 30 and 31 October. The Allianz Arena will see action on both nights, as TSV 1860 Munich were also favoured with a home draw against FSV Mainz 05.

Ribery is again doubtful for this match...

He’s very doubtful again,” coach Ottmar Hitzfeld told reporters on Monday. “I’m assuming he won’t be able to play.”

“The treatment’s slowly having an effect. He spent 45 minutes on the training ground yesterday and he’ll manage an hour today, although he can’t kick a ball yet,” Hitzfeld reported.

We should win this, no excuses.

Probable line-ups:

Bayern Munich: Rensing - Lell, Lucio, Demichelis, Jansen - Sosa, Van Bommel, Zé Roberto, Schweinsteiger - Toni, Klose
Also in matchday squad: Dreher, Ottl, Lahm, Schlaudraff, Podolski, Kroos, Van Buyten, Altintop

Bayern win 3-1! 2 goals from Toni, 1 goal from Klose.

Some notes:
- Podolski had a very good first half when he was tring hard but switched to the "midfielder" mode in the second half, even though he twice assisted Toni.
- Rensing was simply world class, apart from the goal he allowed to go in. Otherwise, he was great!
- Bayern's midfield simply cannot cope with the loss of Ribery

I dont like that last point...the one about Bayern's midfield not being able to cope without Ribery. Thats not good. Not good at all. I didnt watch the game...so Im guessing there wasnt that creative spark that he brings?

Well there's Ze who tries but he's more on the defensive side. His absence in midfield is clearly felt.
