| What I want to know is where were the police? It seemed too easy for that idiot to get on the pitch. Well, I guess that idiot won't be allowed to go to a game. I wonder how folks are treating him since it was his actions that cause the game to stop. |

Trust me , it is very easy to get on the pitch The police , lol there like very few of them which definitely cannot control and keep an eye on everything and everyone and thats why they got CCTV. it wasn't his action why Denmark got penalized but Poulsen's idiotic punch, if Poulsen wouldn't have punched the Swedish guy none of that would have happened. |

France host the former Soviet republic in Auxerre’s Abbe-Deschamps Stadium brimming with confidence following Saturday’s 2-0 win over a spineless Ukraine side at the Stade de France.
Les Bleus now top a tightly contested Group B ahead of Italy, and are tipped to reinforce that lead on the night their World Cup final conquerors play a tricky away encounter in Lithuania.
Failure to beat Georgia – beaten 3-0 by France in their first Group B encounter and whose sole victories came against the struggling Faroe Islands – would be a major upset.
And France are desperate to secure these three points ahead of emerging from their summer vacation to face old foes Italy in September
“We’re only at the half-time interval,” Domenech warned on Sunday as he reminded his players there are still six of the total 12 qualifiers to play.
Marseille’s Franck Ribery, one of the six or so France players currently in club contract negotiations, broke the deadlock against Ukraine with a well-taken second half goal.
After Nicolas Anelka sealed the points with France’s second goal for their fifth win from six games, Ribery admitted that Domenech’s post-match talk brought them all back down to earth.
“The coach gave us a bit of a talking to after the match against Ukraine,” said Ribery, who is reported to be moving to German giants Bayern Munich.
“He hammered it into us that it’s not summer holiday time yet. We still have plenty of work to do.”
Domenech has a reputation for not suffering fools gladly, and has on occasion ruffled the feathers of the media with his taciturn approach to his job.
On Sunday, however, Domenech piped up willingly to declare he was unhappy that some of his players seemed more concerned with sorting out their future club destination than with France’s Euro 2008 cause.
“Have the players listened to me when I asked them to leave their agents to sort out their transfer problems? No, some of them have spent a lot of time on their mobile phones during their time with France,” said Domenech.
“For the moment, it isn’t too much of a problem. But I’m warning everyone here. Georgia aren’t coming here to make up the numbers.”
France will be without first choice goalkeeper Gregory Coupet, who has pulled a stomach muscle.
That is likely to mean a start for Mickael Landreau, which will give Georgia hope that the Paris St Germain goalkeeper – who has little international experience – is ripe for making a fumble or two.
While defender William Gallas is uncertain to start, there are likely to be few changes from the side which worked effectively against Ukraine.
Domenech could make wholesale changes if his starting line-up race to a healthy first-half lead, but some, including midfielder Claude Makelele, are not thinking that far ahead.
“There are no easy matches,” said the Chelsea star, who feels Georgia, despite their lowly group placing, could play a more open, attacking football than Ukraine.
“We have to go into the Georgia match with the same mentality as we had against Ukraine, and that means starting the match prepared for any eventuality. It’s going to be difficult. Georgia know how to play football, and because they’ve got nothing to lose they will be ready to take more chances than Ukraine.” |

I know it wasn't the fan's reaction that got them penalized because I saw the game (check out my first post) However, it was the fan's reaction that made the referee stop the game. |

Of the games I saw yesterday, I would have to say probably the most entertaining game was the Finland and Belgium game. Why? Because of the owl. If anyone saw the game they had to stop play for 5 minutes because an owl landed on the pitch and the he flew from one net to another before finally settling behind the net. LOL!!! It was so funny. Everyone was laughing. I think Finland needs to keep that bird because not long after they started back up, Finland scored.
Spain and Lichenstien....boring game but David Villa had one heck of a goal. He could have had a hat trick but choked on the penalty kick. LOL!! After the ball hit the post David just stood there and looked shocked. LOL!!!
Lithuania and Italy....not a bad game but Italy does not look like they should be ranked number one. Again, they could only score two goals but they didn't allow Lithuania to score. Interesting tidbit...Oddo (don't know what position he plays) was the team's hairstylists during the WC. LOL!!! So, any complaints on their hair has to be directed towards him. LOL!!
Germany and Slovakia...Metzelder almost gave me a heart attack with that strike. LOL!! Perhaps he wants to be a striker?
France and Georgia....France only scored once and they really should've scored more. Boring game. |

Franck Ribery was the undoubted architect of a victory for France that could and should have been achieved by a far wider margin.
But the three points, and six from this Euro qualifying double header that began with a 2-0 success over Ukraine, will be welcomed by coach Raymond Domenech, whose side now sit two points clear of Italy and three ahead of Scotland in the race for Austria and Switzerland next summer.
Ukraine, six points off the top, now seem to be slipping out of contention.
Domenech said: “The match went just like we thought it would and how we had talked about during the week.
“We lacked a bit of rhythm with the final ball and in the last third. It’s true that we could have played with more pace but that’s normal with a team that is lacking in freshness, which we saw in the second period."
France dominated from the off with Ribery at the heart of almost everything, his movement and determined running causing all sorts of problems for Georgia’s overworked defensive lines.
The Marseille man showed no signs of distraction from his rumoured move to German giants Bayern Munich and almost broke through into the Georgia box after some neat interplay with club team-mate Samir Nasri — a defensive toe proved just enough to divert the ball away from Ribery as he sneaked past the last man.
France were creating little in terms of clear-cut chances despite their obvious superiority in terms of possession and territory.
They came close to opening the scoring in the 16th minute as Ribery crossed for Bolton’s Nicolas Anelka at the back post. He got his head on the ball but his downward effort lacked power and bounced lazily and was cleared away by AC Milan’s Kaka Kaladze, although it looked to be drifting wide.
Moments later Anelka shot straight at keeper Giorgi Lomaia after being released by a clever pass from Lyon’s Florent Malouda.
Anelka was finding himself at the forefront of France’s chances but his radar seemed to be somewhat askew.
On 22 minutes Ribery’s brilliant through ball set the former Arsenal, Real Madrid and Liverpool striker free but he produced the first touch of an elephant and literally hoofed the ball out of play.
France’s pressure finally told on 33 minutes after an interchange between Francois Clerc and Ribery down the right. The latter jinked his way into the box and fed Nasri to fire home into the bottom far corner.
Goalscorer Nasri has been likened to former captain Zinedine Zidane but he insisted that despite his match-winner he has yet to reach that level.
“The most important thing was to win. I had the good fortune to score but the most important thing was three points.
“I wouldn’t say I’m an integral part of the team yet but I have integrated well with the group."
Clerc should have doubled the hosts’ advantage in the first minute of the second period but prodded his effort three yards wide of the far post from Malouda’s inch-perfect cross.
In the 76th minute Djibril Cisse had a glorious chance to wrap up the points after he was released by Nasri.
But after beating Lomaia in a sprint to the ball and seeing the only defender between him and the goal slip over, Cisse somehow chipped his effort high and wide with the goal gaping. Despite the angle, by the corner of the 18-yard box, it was a shocking miss from an international forward and will have done nothing to endear him to the crowd that already jeered him.
Cisse had three more chances to get on the score sheet but with the first and last he shot straight at Lomaia and with the second he failed to latch onto Eric Abidal’s teasing left-wing cross. |

SAMIR Nasri voted the league's best young player this season and superb in Saturday's 2-0 win over Ukraine, struck in the 33rd-minute of a one-sided contest.
France now have 18 points from seven games and lead second-placed Italy by two points after the World champions beat Lithuania 2-0.
Franck Ribery, who is set to leave for Bayern Munich, was at his best, crossing from the right for Nasri to shoot France into a well-deserved advantage 12 minutes from the interval.
France, who were without captain Patrick Vieira and top striker Thierry Henry, next travel to Italy on Sept 8 in a World Cup final repeat. |
